Wei Li's "Taste of Springtime" is not just a Baijiu packaging design; it's a narrative of human connection. Inspired by Rubin's vase and the wormhole theory, the design features an hourglass silhouette, symbolizing shared moments and the flow of time. This unique shape is created by joining two bottles, top to bottom, encouraging the act of sharing a drink and conversation. The design's dual faces at the bottom suggest a dialogue, emphasizing the importance of interpersonal relationships and the social nature of Baijiu.
The packaging stands out for its artistic and functional duality. The hourglass form, an homage to the time-honored process of Baijiu brewing, is a departure from traditional packaging. The use of Rubin's vase illusion crafts a side profile of a human face at the glass joint, infusing the design with an artistic touch. The eco-friendly packaging aligns with the brand's commitment to sustainability, using 100% recyclable materials that reflect a low-carbon, green lifestyle.
Measuring 88mm in width, 88mm in depth, and 196mm in height, "Taste of Springtime" is not only a visual delight but also a practical solution for moderate consumption. The two bottles, each with a different capacity, cater to individual preferences and promote responsible drinking. The design's inherent social attributes foster connections, bridging the gap between individuals and enhancing the drinking experience.
Developed by a team including Mr. Dong Jinghong, Mr. Huang Yangzhong, and Mr. Li Wei, the project began in March 2023 and concluded in June 2023 in China. The design is set to be showcased in August 2023, promising to be a highlight in the world of Baijiu packaging. The team's research focused on the concept of time, aiming to create a product that resonates with contemporary users and encourages social harmony.
Wei Li's "Taste of Springtime" has been recognized with the prestigious Iron A' Design Award in 2024, a testament to its well-executed design, practicality, and innovation. This accolade is reserved for designs that not only meet professional standards but also contribute positively to society, offering a sense of fulfillment and well-being. "Taste of Springtime" is a prime example of design that transcends its functional purpose to become a work of art, worthy of collection and admiration.
